We read Braiding Sweetgrass during our Justice Project after being introduced to the ideas of environmental ethics and environmental justice. We read chapters individually then came together to discuss weekly. To exemplify how this book shaped our thinking around human's relationship with nature, we wrote an analytical or argumentative essay responding to one of the following prompts:
1. Using the book as a guide, how can we develop a more reciprocal relationship with nature? Why should we? 2. Pick one of the chapters. What was her main argument? How does this go against the grain, or add a more complex level to the environmental justice conversation? 3. Pick one of the other texts we read and create an intertextual argument. How can one build a more complex argument about what is just, and how must we achieve environmental justice? |
